As Canopy Growth’s Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, Christelle Gedeon oversees the company’s global Legal, M&A, Regulatory, and IT Compliance functions across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
A transformational executive and strategic counsellor, Christelle plays a central role in advancing Canopy Growth’s long-term strategy, including executing the company’s multiyear business transformation, restructuring over US$700 million in debt, and architecting Canopy USA — a first-of-its-kind structure enabling U.S. market participation while maintaining NASDAQ compliance.
Before joining Canopy, she served as Chief Legal Officer at The Metals Company, where she guided its de-SPAC transaction and ESG governance framework, and as Chief Legal Officer at Aphria Inc., where she led major regulatory and transactional initiatives. Earlier in her career, she was a Partner at Fasken, advising clients in highly regulated sectors on complex regulatory, transactional, and governance matters.
Christelle holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Toronto and a dual law degree (LL.B./B.C.L.) from McGill University. She is dual barred in Ontario and Quebec, a registered trademark agent, and certified by Competent Boards with the GCB.D ESG governance designation.
