Canopy Growth issues statement regarding New York State hemp legislation

Canopy Growth commends and congratulates Governor Andrew Cuomo for signing S.6184/A.7680 into law, legislation that will establish regulatory certainty for New York’s budding hemp industry. Canopy Growth believes that it is critical for New York State to create a regulatory framework that will protect consumers, generate confidence in hemp products, and enable this promising industry to grow.

Canopy is grateful for the leadership of New York State Assemblymember Donna Lupardo and Senator Jen Metzger who championed this legislation. They have been tremendous partners in supporting the establishment of Broome County and all of New York State as a leader in hemp production.

“We are proud to partner with New York State to bring world-class hemp production and its economic potential to the Southern Tier and all New Yorkers,” said Rade Kovacevic, President, Canopy Growth Corporation. “We are grateful that Governor Cuomo, Senator Metzger, and Assemblymember Lupardo have led this critical effort to establish rules that will grow and mature the hemp industry.”

Canopy Growth announced the development of a hemp processing facility in Kirkwood, NY that will employ local residents, along with contracting local hemp farmers, which will spur a broader hemp and CBD product ecosystem in Broome County.
